Experiments

Does the term 'vibe scientist' resonate with the people it describes?

    Context

This site is itself a probe. The hypothesis is that there is an under-named role — the person doing structured inquiry before metrics exist — and that a memorable label for it will spread faster than an academic one. We are running the naming experiment in public.

    Hypothesis

If the term captures a real role, self-identified operators, founders, and product leaders will (a) share the site unprompted with a specific person in mind, and (b) describe themselves in the term's language when asked what they do.

    Kill criteria

After 90 days: fewer than 25 unsolicited references (link shares, quotes, uses of the phrase) from people not personally known to the author, and no observed adoption of the phrase in job titles, bios, or posts by third parties.

    Validation criteria

At least one instance of the phrase being used, unprompted, in a job description, bio, or public talk by someone unaffiliated with this site — plus a consistent pattern of readers writing back to say 'this is what I do, I did not have a word for it.'
